Hi I'm Ingrid and I'm from Wesley Intermediate school and this week I have been learning how to write a procedure.
LO: To write a procedure for how to make a new google document. Writing a procedural/instructional piece of writing is what you would do if you wanted to create an instruction book like for crafts or a recipe. You start with a title and then you work your way through prep time and the equipment/ingredient lists. Why do you think we need to start with the title?
I found this task interesting and a little bit easy and we could not use any keyboard shortcuts and we had to base it using a google account.I would like to know why we need to learn how to write a procedure? Why do we need to write an equipment and an ingredient list? Why do we have success criteria? I would like to know about how to write a fully functional procedural piece. I think I need to work on making sure to use action words to start a step.
A very thoughtful and constructive blog post Ingrid. I think you will find that writing a procedure can be an integral part to most management roles in all kinds of industries. Writing instructions or a procedure may seem simple, but the more complex the task, the harder it can be to break it into manageable steps, practicing now will help you in the future. This is also why we split the equipment list into a separate area. Success Criteria is a system we use so you know what you need to do in order to succeed at the given learning objective. I checklist for achievement if you will. A functional procedure can be quite in-depth I can show you some of our schools procedures to give you an idea.
